Since I quit my job as a training officer in a Basel chemistry enterprise in 1991, black paper and knife belong to my intensive working day. Inspired by a book concerning Chinese paper cuts the first pictures developed. First I make an exact detailed sketch on a white paper sheet. These I install onto two black paper sheets and cut out all the white areas with a scalpel. A commercial Cutting Mat serves as underlay material. Depending on motive and size cutting can take about up to 25 hours. My cuttings are always manufactured from one piece in a double and do usually show no symmetry. I get my inspiration on long stays in foreign countries and from the fashion world.

Step from training officer to freelanced artist During my apprenticeship as a laboratory worker first pictures developed, countrysides, animals and caricatures. Subsequently, longer experimenting with different painting methods and evening classes at the college of arts and crafts in Basel followed.
